Workforce Development

No workforce development conversation can occur without starting with the North Carolina Community College System. The system is a recognized leader in preparing residents for jobs across a wide range of careers, from technology to trades and our region is blessed to have easy access to two of North Carolina’s finest community colleges – Johnston Community College and Central Carolina Community College (CCCC).

Both of these community colleges have multiple campuses offering easy access to anyone interested in furthering their education – whether for specific on-the-job training or in pursuit of an associate’s degree.


Two New Workforce Development Centers

Significant progress is being made on the planning and eventual construction of two new Workforce Training Centers in our region. Plans call for an Advanced Manufacturing Training Center to be located just off Interstate 95 and less than one mile from the Four Oaks Business Park. Johnston Community College has already agreed to provide the staff and curriculum needed to make this project a success. The second facility would be an Advanced Life Science and Skills Training Center located in the City of Dunn and would be geared toward workforce preparedness in the fields of Biotech, Agtech, AI, software programming and more.
